By the time many of us seek counseling, we have exhausted ourselves trying to solve our own problems. Sometimes we even judge ourselves for not being able to cope on our own and we feel worse.
Brittany focuses first on helping her clients develop curiosity and compassion toward themself and their journey thus far. She works with her clients to identify what has been missing from the puzzle, acquire new skills, and heal. Her authentic and engaging style makes her a great match for those ready for growth.
Her specialties include COVID, caretaker and job burnout; grief and loss; anxiety; low-self esteem; uncertainty around identity and purpose; addictive behavior and substance abuse; problems with job or athletic performance; difficulty with changes in life circumstances and demands (including new medical diagnoses for themselves or loved ones); and unresolved trauma from painful events or relationships.
Brittany is also passionate about women’s issues, such as helping mothers find work-life balance and regain their sense of self, coping with divorce, and navigating career changes.
Brittany has a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Drury University where she played varsity soccer. She obtained her Master of Science from the University of North Texas in Counseling Psychology in 2007. Her prior experience includes providing therapy to at-risk youth and their families in juvenile detention and foster care, as well in the general community. She has also conducted forensic and substance abuse evaluations for children and adults in the legal system. Additionally, Brittany has experience working with young children with autism and developmental disorders in hospital and community settings. She is trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), which she utilizes to help her clients overcome trauma and anxiety.
If any of this resonates with you, she would love to meet you and hear your story. She offers services in person and virtually.
