By the time many of us seek counseling, we have exhausted ourselves trying to solve our own problems. Sometimes we even judge ourselves for not being able to cope on our own and we feel worse.
Brittany focuses first on helping her clients develop curiosity and compassion toward themself and their journey thus far. Her work with clients is highly rooted in the Internal Family Systems (IFS) model, as well as mindful self-compassion, interpersonal neurobiology, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). She prioritizes authentic relating with each client, and aims to connect each client to their own healing resources and inner wisdom so they may experience more clarity, balance and security.
Her specialties include caretaker and job burnout, grief and loss, anxiety, uncertainty around identity and purpose, addictive behavior and substance abuse, difficulty coping with changes in life circumstances and demands, challenges related to navigating ADHD/neurodiversity, and unresolved trauma from painful events or relationships. Brittany is also passionate about working with parents to help them feel more secure in their parenting or gain more connection with their children.
Brittany has a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Drury University where she played varsity soccer. She obtained her Master of Science from the University of North Texas in Counseling Psychology in 2007. Her prior experience includes providing therapy to at-risk youth and their families in juvenile detention and foster care, as well in the general community. She has also conducted forensic and substance abuse evaluations for children and adults in the legal system.
